Pirated Software Bring Troops Virus

Dukutek.com - Buy the DVDs with pirated software? If so, be careful because according to research conducted by Microsoft, most of the DVD has already been infected with malware and viruses.

The study was conducted by a team of Microsoft Security Forensics to 118 samples purchased from sellers in Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. In particular, the samples were constituted from 66 pirated DVDs and 52 laptop that is installed pirated software.

Pirated software is included here not only the Windows operating system, but it includes software licensed from parties other than Microsoft, like Adobe.

The results of the sample study found that 63 percent of counterfeit DVDs and portable software contains malware infections and viruses at high risk. Of these, 74 percent is in the form of pirated DVDs, while only 48 percent of laptops that contains this malicious program.

In addition, there are about 2,000 known cases of malware infections that occur from the sample.

"Most of the samples were found malicious programs, such as backdoor, hijackers, droppers, bots, cracker, password theft, and Trojan horses," said Reza Topobroto, Director of Legal Affairs, Microsoft Indonesia, when you talk to KompasTekno in Jakarta, Thursday (20/12/2012).

Criminals use malware to invasive illegal activities that generate profit from stealing consumer banking and credit card information.

To prevent this from continuing to happen, Microsoft advises consumers to always use the original software.
